Sep 25, 2008: 03:30 PMI was surprised my wife told me everything about deaf small world. My first deaf wife last year. I find out why deaf people not work most some all get SSI I ask why they get SSI better find a job, no matter how much pay maybe pay more earn then SSI. They worried if they find a job will lose SSI. They want keep SSI part time work then quit job stay SSI more safe? I am deaf my whole life I was started on job in 1976 started $2.50 an hour. My think oh not worth about money nothing. I already 4th job in 32 yrs no retire. Because I dropped out school never get GED or college. I know all job must required degree. I keep my job for 26 years now I'm Production Manager (Product Planner, CNC and CAD)I love my job real close to my boss like a family. He gave me free Furniture. My wife shock. If future the company shut down. I don't know where I suppose to get SSI or go to school get GED? I get older

Jun 12, 2008: 01:08 PMYou got right point! I noticed that many deafies are being lazy around the nation. I am deaf in my whole life. I started to work when I was 15 while went to high school. I worked while I attended NTID and SWCID. Now, I am full-time employee for over 14 years. I am Geographic Information System Director and worked with all hearing people. I had to be patience with hearing people, but we found easy communication so I kept my job and loved it. I want to see more deafies to work at Oil and Gas companies. I had not seemed many deafies who work at Oil and Gas companies. I was blessed to have that job. I earned my career because I started to work at 15 age. I thanked myself, my dad and mom and teachers. 60% deafies are unemployees, that is very SAD because they just wanted SSI and being idiot lazy!! Thanks.
